The framing process starts with a set of plans from our architect.
Since our houses are ‘stick framed’ (meaning, no pre-fabricated structural components), we have to tailor our materials list for each new floor plan.
The first week usually consists of the stick framing the house followed by the start of the exterior finish-out.
We always start the framing process by ‘popping’ out the lines of the house with a chalk string according to the architect’s floor plan.
This ensures that the measurements are correct and that there’s no surprises during the framing process.
Thankfully, on this house, the plumbing and electrical lined up perfectly with the walls and the slab was nice and square.
The second week is the completion of the exterior and final touches, but we’ll save that for next week’s post!
